German Conversation Evenings

Practise with people who actually live here.

Being planned - the first evening comes first

Most people arrive in Hagenberg able to work in English and unable to follow a conversation in the supermarket queue. That gap does not close by itself, and a course alone rarely closes it either. What closes it is talking to people, often, without being graded.

So: an evening of German conversation, at whatever level you are at. No homework, no test, no minimum standard. If you can say three words you belong in the room.

The first one

Bettina Buchberger is putting together the first evening. She teaches practical German professionally and works with the press, so she knows exactly which German you actually need and which you can safely ignore.

The date is not fixed yet, and that is deliberate: we want to know who is interested before we set one.

Why it is worth telling us now

The plan is not one evening. It is a format that runs regularly, with different volunteers taking a turn as host - which only works if we know there are enough people who want it. So the most useful thing you can do right now is say so.

A proper course, too

Bettina is also planning a paid German course: practical, aimed squarely at working life in an Austrian company rather than at exam grammar. If that is what you actually need, say that as well - it helps shape what she offers.

Write to bettina@hagenberg.international for either: the conversation evenings, the course, or to volunteer as a host for a future evening.
